Kindly read the pervious article along with this “Force of attraction generated by consciousness”
“Maya” That which is not it appears and as soon as chita defines it, it becomes real, it is so enchanting, powerfully magnetizing, make believable to and by the senses, conquering our imagination and intelligence, overwhelming us by attaching our attention and develops the desire to posses it (spiritually, mentally, and physically). In fact, it is the cause of everything manifested in the universe. Detachment (not as “not to posses” but experiencing everything with freedom from attachment) from that which can share the consciousness, the hindrance to achieve single point concentration is due to the attraction power of the illusion. This is the most difficult characteristic that needs to be developed for genuine spiritual progress and ultimate union with the supreme.
This power exists in both the reality of unity (totality) & duality (our universe) so, it has its counter part “Chita Shakthi (or budhi as sometimes used)” yes, the POWER OF THOUGHT, one of the five power that make our mind function. It is closely related with “Icha Shakthi, DESIRE” “Janna Shakthi, INTELLIGENCE” “kriya shakthi, ACTION” and “ ananda shakthi, JOY OR EXPERIENCING” the five powers that make our mind function. The understanding of this thus becomes even more important.
One fact is certain no matter how enlightened we are, the element of Maya is always there as long as we identify with this body, mind, or soul. Thus, we can easily fall back into the lower levels of consciousness as easily as we attach ourselves to the material things. This is because each cell of our body is having a degree of consciousness, which collectively make up the consciousness of the individual. The cell is made up of five elements of nature derived from the pure energy the basic nature of Maya. The consciousness is itself the interaction of five powers or energies the basic nature of Maya. We can never be free from Maya as long as we identify with this consciousness also. WE CAN BE FREE FROM MAYA ONLY WHEN WE MERGE OUR SELVES IN THE SUPREME LOOSING OUR SEPARATE IDENTITY.
This power exists as INDIVIDUAL’S MAYA (our own understanding) and COLLECTIVE MAYA (the understanding of all living beings), this makes up the entire world as we feel or experience it, or understand it.
The individuals “Maya” is born from the power of IMAGINATION (kalpana shakthi or power of imagination) using the memory of experiences accumulated from all lives. As there are no limits to this, the power of individuals MAYA is infinite.
On the other hand, the collective maya is what we create in the vicinity we live, using the means of communication, describing everything, mostly as bringing up our children just as we were brought up by our parents and teachers. In short, it is what makes us see the things, everything around us as everyone else. This collective maya is what can reveal our culture; it becomes a means to know how we were taught, as each culture has its own unique features, likes, and dislikes.
Harmony in the vicinity we live will prevail only if this collective maya is the same with all the living being’s “individual Maya” in that area. These are expanded when we trespass into the domain of the other individuals and communities, similarly we can expand it to the entire universes both manifest and un-manifest absolute by spiritual practice.
This power cannot exist with out its counterpart thought power “Chita Shakthi”, thus it exists only because we exist! Alternatively, as long as thoughts exists in either human beings or souls.
The main function of Maya is to draw the attention of the individual, thus it displays itself in the manner that makes it very attractive. It has the power to present itself in many ways to attract the likes of all. Thus, all the aspirants are trained to continuously stay with Chita, this, engages them in the single point continuously transcending the mind from the clutches of illusion. Perfection of this is what leads us to the maturity of treating everything with equality. “Maya” can be understood in all the modes physical, mental, and spiritual.
Physically thought power, Chita Shakthi makes us believe that all that is perceived by the senses is real and attaches our consciousness by enabling the senses to the pleasures. Thus, thought power, Chita Shakthi is the power to make us imagine or feel reality, this is because the senses play an important role in the feedback mechanisium, confirming the imagined, or visualized.
Mentally thought power, Chita Shakthi makes us visualize (kalpana shakthi or power of imagination) the mirror inside the mind that reflects everything (texts use the comparison of pure still water reflecting the moon).
In the spiritual context, it is that power which vanishes as soon as all thoughts are stilled and identification of the consciousness with body ends, attention of the mind is changed to that of the universe or totality, leaving us in the void, filled with compassion.
The stillness of the mind is what is developed in sadhana by the methods of purification, ACTUALLY REMOVING RIPPLES OF THOUGHTS, attaining NO thoughts state making the reflection clear.
Maya is related more with the subconscious and its counter part Chita is related mainly with the conscious part. Chita defines the Maya (illusion) with words and meaning to form thoughts, which in turn generate feelings and in turn a sensation to make them appear real when the feed back returns these signals from the senses. Most of the signals are assumed or superimposed by the brain some times tricked to believe they exist.
The most powerful illusions that are created the memory of our experiences that have not been understood and accepted. These being stored in bits and pieces achieve enough power and random motion as soon as any information is brought to the mind that is related to them in any way (in the subtle level everything is related by energy). This is when they are brought to the domain of (Chita) Thoughts to be defined and understood. Now Ahankara ego or I-ness grows by possessing the understanding. This is done by differentiation power of the mind the intelligence. Many sensations are generated in this process. The powers of these sensations are proportional to the density of the environment they are created thus gives us consciousness at that chakra. As we elevate our consciousness, and create new sensations we traverse from the base chakra to the highest chakra at the top of the head sahasra chakra, the density inside the body is similarly as in the atmosphere at the earth level (muladhara chakra) being higher than the level of ionosphere (sahasra chakra) where it is comparatively less. This enables the subtle features of the illusion to become aware to our intelligence. Gradually as we stay in this chakra where we are comfortable, we assimilate everything in the universe confirming the fact that all duality is only in our imagination.
Maya shakthi is what creates DESIRE or ICHA also called MOHA. In the human body relating this with chakras, its birth is in the swadhistana chakra the second from the base. That means we have to traverse the first chakra (muladhara) this is done only after we understand everything related to it. That means purification by understanding everything about the element earth! The element of the second chakra is water the ideal platform for the union of all basic elements of earth. Here all combinations of union of elements are formed; all of these are not stable and thus transform themselves to either basic or new compounds that can have longer stability. These crystallize as solids and fall back to the base chakra. Thus, we normal human beings will always be at either of these two chakras only during most of the activities in their life. Reaching the manipura chakra is even more stimulating as fire the basic element here converts everything to vapor using (digestive fire) jatara agni and giving birth to (fire of elements) bootha (butha) agni (more of this will be described as per our understanding in future articles)
Occasionally there is a possibility of energy from the higher chakras to fall back into the lower chakras. This energy from the higher chakras help to purify the chakra from the internal sadhana this is developed from the sadhana we do in the physical level.
Occasionally there is a possibility of energy release also of triggering the subconscious accidentally due to the intense emotions created by situation in the vicinity we live. Desire is the urge to posses; it can also be said as the union with that which is desired (subject or object), as there are limits to achieve physical union with everything, many of these desires are satisfied partially with sensory experience of pleasure. This is the reason we never feel completely satisfied with most of our desires!
How this is done? The mind being influenced by feelings OR desire uses union of sounds to create words, next union of words with meaning makes them intellectual, as thoughts (CHITA) again the experience of these is made intellectual in similar ways as above this is stored in the memory to be recalled by the conscious or similar events. This completes the memory cycle. The more number of times this is recalled makes it strong they become and segregates into the active part of the memory.
Chakras can accumulate impurities due to the way we live, the environment we are exposed to, the thoughts and influence brought forward from previous births. The process to purify this is through the controlled method of prana circulation to these chakras via any one of the sadhanas Meditation, yoga asana, and pranayama. These methods involve the basic elements of the universe, in pranayama-controlled method of breathing air, Hata yoga complicated body postures to enable achievement of flexible body and channels for establishing normal flow of vital energy. Intense meditation using mantra (maha vidya, apta, gothra, single syllable, maha vakya, simple words etc), yantra (complex diagrams closely related with each mantra), deity (the power that protects the mantra and yantra), contemplation (deep thinking on the same subject or object until correlation with everything becomes clear), and sadhana (spiritual practice). The more number of above methods used by the aspirant the easier it becomes to achieve success. As all of them are related, even one of them gives the effect of all thus aspirants need not worry if others are not known, these have a power to reveal themselves as we progress in the sadhana.
These shakthi’s Maya and Chita are what keeps the body mind and spirit alive.
Physical health by prana (vital energy) we accumulate by consuming food, water, and mainly the air we breathe we get this energy also directly from the cosmos.
Mental health by adequate rest and single pointed ness in everything we do.
Spiritually health by relinquishing attachment to everything and acquiring Janna.
Unhealthiness on the other hand is acquired by accumulating the food, water, and air within our body allowing them to decay creating poisons in the physical level. The proper removal of these is stressed in AYURVEDA the main treatment of diseases is through eliminating wastes.
Unhealthiness in the mental level is allowing our fears, anxieties, envy, anger, and hate to dwell in our thoughts.
Unhealthiness in the spiritual level is staying ignorant and attached to the material things of temporary joy.
This makes shakthi (HUMMING (NADA) SOUND OF VIBRATION OR MOVEMENT) around bindhu (THE CLEAR PURE TRANSPARENT LIGHT) the cause of the creation of the entire universe. Shakthi or bindhu cannot exist with out one another, as they are both together addressed as the one we call God. It is uncorrupted love for each other that created the consciousness of the supreme along with the birth of time., During pralaya, the destruction of the universe the reverse process of creation begins expanding all the basic elements into their energy form creating very large flow or currents similar to the storms but greater in force as the temperatures begin to rise vaporizing everything creating large pressure variations. It is said that everything right up to the fifth plane of existence is destroyed leaving the sixth and seventh. This must mean that the rishi’s and angles living in these planes decide or create a collective maya, we humans that will be alive as humans or souls will witness this destruction and add power to it to complete the process to merge with the entirety.
Similarly “JANNA” wisdom exists along with ignorance “AJANNA”, KRIYA action exists along with AKRIYA inaction. ICHA desire exists along with TRIPTHI satisfaction and ANANDA joy or experience exists along with DUKHA sorrow or inability to experience can be explained.
