How one can stick to disciplines?
Think of our practice as Dharma (righteousness) related to the past teachings of seers, which must be adhered to as if being alive in the present depends only if these methods written in the texts. These are to be implemented in ones life possessing this information and knowledge without implementing in ones own life.
Kama or desires we are presently attached to should be at par only with relation to this dharma and
Artha the wealth that is required to enable these acts should be from the pure (source of wealth should be self earned or righteously attained).
Mohsha the merger with the ultimate is actually not in our hands or with our powers thus it is left to the mercy of the ultimate.
( a personal note : we have seen and experienced that most of the things the text says are impossible to be practiced in the present, thus we are guided by the present day religious leaders, But we would advice letting our subconscious decide, as it is closer to the soul and cannot be wrong as per the universal order.)
Eight spiritual qualities that help in maintaining once practice or stick to disciplines are given in the text.
This does not mean that these are the only ones that one should follow.
- Compassion towards all living beings, this is required as everything in this world is god. This will enable the sense one oneness with the whole. This quality comes from our true basic nature, which is love, love is a liking towards the self as I, the ego of limitedness, compassion towards all living beings will ensure to remove this limitedness of the developed ego.
- Tolerance is mainly aimed at withholding oneself from reacting to a situation that is understood by the individual as not liked by him /her. This reaction was a developed in stages, that will slowly take a natural habit if allowed to grow further it may become beyond our control.
- Helping everyone who come to us seeking protection, guidance, give freely to everyone the knowledge this will ensure that we continuously receive the pure knowledge from the universe. When we consider that everything is one then we are actually giving it to ourselves thus it comes back multifold.
- Refrain from envy. This is very necessary as similar to the above paragraph we will receive it back in multifold.
- External and internal purification. The most common purification we know is taking a bath with water or washing cloths related with external purification. Internally we use the flow of vital energy “prana” its reservoir or store is at the navel chakra, Manipura, it is also called as “shakthi chalana” (flow of prana in a desired way is shakthi.)
- Calmness with alertness in all situations. This quality will develop by its self as we progress in our sadhana or practice. Alertness is vital to ensure that we unconsciously don’t do something that is considered by the society as wrong and become a victim of the curse or bad feelings of others.
- Selfishness: externally it means we develop a hate or adverse feeling to wards others. Internally it means self love, if self is considered as body then we are dividing our consciousness with something else thus the flow of energy will be divided thus effect will be similarly less.
- Do not hanker for things or have desires, (This does not require any explanation)
